How to Revert the Power Apps Studio to a Previous Release

This week, I was helping a customer to deploy an app to one of their environments, and lo and behold, one of the screens was not rendering properly while the app was in edit mode. It rendered just fine in its published form. I began to question my sanity and my competence; Did I screw something up? I knew it was working just fine the night before.

The answer was, thankfully, no, I didn’t screw anything up.

During troubleshooting, we realized this problem existing in all four of the customer environments. If we would publish the app, it would publish the broken rendering of the screen so we were stuck. Stuck because we needed to publish a quick fix but could not without introducing the problem. One of my colleagues showed us how to revert the Power Apps studio to a previous release so that we could test to see if an update to the studio may have conflicted with our app and sure enough, we discovered that it had.

Here are the steps to revert the Power Apps studio to a previous release:

  1. Go to PowerApps studio, Edit the app

  2. Click on 'Account' on the left hand panel

  3. Click on 'Change Authoring version'

  4. Select a previous version of the studio

  5. Test your app
